One Shot Wonders

An Editors dream job, some might say. A 'cut with no cut' a 'ride with no bumps' a 'baby that doesn't scream' and ' 'a boozy night with no hangover', ok maybe not quite, but you get my drift. Here's a collection of delightful one shot wonders from the past year, cut by Tom, Dominic and Paul with our lovely directors Adam Berg, Arno Salters, Kim Gehrig and Tim Hope.

We like these jobs, give us more.

Mr. Motor Man

Paul Hardcastle doesn't possess the necessary skills to earn a driving license for 4 wheels, hence he opts for 2 wheels, riding around London on his moped showing off his shiny shoes to the undiscerning public, whilst his scarf stylishly flutters in the wind. I don't think he even likes cars, yet he's become the Trim King of car ads. They just keep on comin at him and he keeps on wheelin them out.

Here's a couple of the spots he's kept under his bonnet for a while!

Paul's Breakdown

Finally we can reveal the directors cut for Adam Berg's Talk Talk commercial!

Earlier this year in April, Paul Hardcastle locked himself away in his suite for two weeks and listened to 'Unchained Melody, non-stop. We wondered if he had finally cracked or if he was having some 'good time' with Demi Moore. It turned out he was cutting Adam Berg's cosy ad for Talk Talk, featuring an array of cute characers. It's a mixture of live action, stop-frame clay animation and 3D animation, to create a beautiful piece that reflects all the emotion in the original Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze scene. Kind of.

Happy Inside

Cats, cats, cats - thats the theme of the new brilliant Ikea ad, directed by Adam Berg with the brains of Creative agency, Mother. Edited by Trim’s Paul Hardcastle, this sweet and stylish campaign sees a 100 cats let loose in the Ikea Wembley store in London. The feline creatures run around, exploring, fighting, hiding and finally settling into a snug nestle of sleep- as you do.

“The idea behind the work is that cats know better than anything what makes them feel happy inside, they live their lives in pursuit of their own comfort," said Feh Tarty, creative director at Mother.

The ad is part of a bigger campaign, which includes an online 'guess the cat's favourite furniture' competition, a 'making of' documentary and a hilarious short documentary about the somewhat crazy cat owners, edited by Trim's Gus Herdman (watch this space).

‘Dulux Walls’ edited by Paul

We're really pleased to have been involved in this great spot for Dulux, which Paul has just edited. Euro RSCG worked with director Adam Berg to create this truly community spirited piece of work as part of the Let's Colour Project. Staring real local people from around the world, including kids from a school near Trim, it resonates with genuine positivity. It took 6 months to create the film with crews shooting in Jodphur India, Paris France, Rio de Janero Brazil, and London.

We can't really sum it up any better than Contagious Magazine did:

"This is an example of a simple, truthful and deliverable idea that positively affects people's lives everyday. It makes you feel proud to see marketing that doesn't put annoying cultural pollution out there but, rather, injects a form of optimism and hope."

Directed by Adam Berg

Production Company Stink.

Post production: Glassworks.

Editing: Paul Hardcastle at Trim.

Song: Go Do by Jonsi.

Creatives: Fernanda Romano, Fabio Abram, Braulio Kuwabara at Euro RSCG.

Nike Air Jordan "Nightmares Never Sleep" Edited by Paul Hardcastle

Paul Hardcastle recently completed this stunning cut for Nike Air Jordan with award winning director Adam Berg at Smuggler. The agency was Wieden & Kennedy NY, a creative force that's been behind Nike for over two decades, and famously coined the iconic tag "Just Do It".

The spot was filmed in Miami and edited in Stockholm, New York and London. A major editing challenge was not being able to show whole faces of the players or revealing who the actual team are because it was acted by non NBA players. The players were also not allowed to commit a foul by actually striking eachother. Here's Paul's standout cut featuring some supernatural sporting powers.
